Created by Lazy Brain Games, who also made a fantastic platformer called Mecha Spider Island, has kicked off his "Season 2" with Omnicron.

Omnicron is a simplistic, top-down, side scrolling, shooter, video game, with interactive inputs. Sorry got on a roll there. What makes this game stand out is the addition of a mouse controlled reticule that can destroy "Blue Things" that would normally kill you. Additionally, the destruction of said blue things will speed up the generation of your right click bomb. This becomes pretty vital later on as it destroys all projectiles on screen and gives you a temporary shield.

FRACT has gone into full production with a 3 person team. The game began its life as a graduate project for Richard Flanagan at the Universite de Montreal/Ubisoft Campus. It went on to win an award at the Independent Games Festival for Best Student Game, and with good cause. Here is a promotional video for the demo.

Headed by Richard Flanagan and inspired by electronic music FRACT is a very interesting project utilizing the Unity Engine. The available demo plays like a cross between Tron and Myst. There is something desolately beautiful in the ruined electronic landscape you are presented with. The fact that FRACT will be getting a more in depth treatment is very exciting.

Minecraft is a phenomenon. It has sold millions of copies and been universally lauded. Amazingly, it has accomplished these feats before it has exited its beta period. Minecraft's creator, Markus Persson, has hit upon a winning formula, and other game makers recognize this. It is unsurprising then that some game makers are attempting to emulate Minecraft's gameplay. What is surprising, however, is how blatantly they are copying Minecraft. I've created this list to explore and catalogue the vast world of Minecraft clones.
